Terug van een weekje weggeweest: Marco Borsato! Vorige week werd hij in de Single Top 100 verslagen door Nick & Simon, die een handige verkooptruc toepasten om een #1-hit te forceren. Deze week is Marco weer de beste en terecht, want trucjes uithalen, da's wel een beetje manipulatie natuurlijk... Nick & Simon duikelen deze week dan ook naar #4. De twee Volendammers zijn daarbij zelfs ingehaald door Lionel Richie en Trijntje Oosterhuis, die al acht weken genoteerd staan, maar dankzij de Arnhemse concertenreeks van Richie deze week klimmen van 18 naar #3.
De drie hoogste nieuwen van deze week hebben allemaal wat met kleuren. Verrassende hoogste nieuwe is Bert ter Brugge, die maar liefst op #15 binnenkomt met 'Rood hart', zijn ode aan FC Twente. Vlak daaronder op #18 debuteert P!nk met 'So what'. Een stukje lager treffen we nog meer rood aan, wanneer Ian Carey op #28 binnenkomt met 'Redlight'.Minder goed gaat het met de hoogste nieuwe van vorige week. De 3j's tuimelen maar liefst van 4 naar #30 met 'Hou van mij' (niet dus...). Ook Metallica behoort tot de verliezers: hun beide singles duikelen in de tweede week weer in de diepte en gaan 16 en 20 plaatsen naar beneden.
In de Album Top 100 blijft Jan Smit de leider deze week. Barry Hay volgt met zijn bigband-plaat op gepaste afstand -hij verkoopt drie keer zo weinig- maar is wel mooi nieuw op #2. Zij pakken het gewoon heel slim aan: zij weten hun fans in korte tijd aan zich te binden, door speciale versies van hun hits uit te brengen, met als klapper een dvd-single. Maar om dit vast te houden heb je ook een download nodig. Die missen ze, omdat ze alle troeven gooien op de fysieke geluidsdrager. Dat hou je dus niet lang vol, zoals we zien. Ze pieken te snel. Overigens is deze aanpak (3 verschillende versies van een nummer achter elkaar uitbrengen), niet nieuw. Coldplay deed dit ook met 'Talk' (in 2005) en stond zelfs 6 weken bovenaan. Echter toen telden de downloads nog niet mee voor de Single Top 100. Wat dat betreft pakt Jan Smit (ook Volendam) het slimmer aan. 'Stilte in de storm' was zowel fysiek als op download verkrijgbaar en stond twee weken bovenaan. Aangezien de fysieke (single)markt alleen maar kleiner wordt, zal het al moeilijker worden om alleen op basis daarvan een hoge notering te krijgen en ook nog vast te houden!
